Happiness begins with a choice.
……Regardless of how this year unfolds, an attitude of gratitude can support you through the hard parts. For instance, if you’re having financial troubles, you can focus on having gratitude for your health. Think about the things in your life that are working for you, instead of what isn’t. If you integrate this “Best Day Ever” practice into your life, this could be your best YEAR ever.
The moment you awake, take a moment to notice how you feel. Are you rushing off to work? Is someone demanding your attention? Allow yourself permission to take five seconds to check in with your mind and body.
Invite yourself to have the best day ever, no matter what. It doesn’t matter what’s on your calendar or what you think you have to do that decides your day or experience, you do. Smile, and be open to the possibility that the day ahead might actually the best day ever.
Over the course of your day, check in with your body. Notice your breath. Do you have an inner critic questioning your choices or worries about an unknown future? View your thoughts and events through the lens of “What if today was the best day ever?” If it was, how would you think about the events of the day? What would you prioritize? What would you or wouldn’t you let bother you? Take a moment to breath that moment away and look for proof that you are actually having the best day ever, no matter what. Give yourself credit for all of the good choices that you have made. Trust your intuition to guide the rest of your day.
